Beating the Heat
Beating the Heat
A Heat stroke is a very serious and fatal condition that needs to be treated immediately. Heat strokes occur when the body gets so hot it’s unable to dissipate the heat which causes the body temperature to rise. Some of the signs and symptoms of a heat stroke include:
hallucinations
disorientation
seizure
agitation
confusion
rapid pulse
high body temperature
absence of sweating with hot red, dry skin
coma
strange behavior
Victims of heat stroke must receive immediate medical attention. Call 911 right away, then get the victim to a shaded/cool area, remove clothing and apply cool water. Have the victim drink cold water (if they are able to) and monitor their body temperature.
